BIBLE REFLECTION
Job 8:21
“He [God] will yet fill your mouth with laughter/and your lips with shouts of joy.”
What effect does laughter and joy have on your thoughts, emotions, and body?
MEDITATION
God must have planned for us to have many moments of laughter and joy because it lifts our spirits and makes us feel good even when everything seems to be a heartache. I decided to laugh rather than cry when it came to my mother’s dementia. She did some strange things like burning toast over and over throughout the day and placing a folded nightgown in the oven. Her silly little antics make me smile even now so many years later.
Your sense of humor will help you will realize most things in life are not important enough to get upset about. The next time you make a mistake or your loved one has a mishap be gentle on both of you and keep smiling. Make a good-natured joke about it. Laugh! It will make your soul sing.
YOUR JOURNAL
Write about something recently that warmed your heart and made you smile or even laugh out loud.
TODAY’S PRAYER:
Father of Joy, thank you for the blessing of laughter. May I be quick to notice and share with others humor that doesn’t hurt feelings but comes from choosing to be forgiving and light-hearted. To God be the glory. Amen.
