BIBLE REFLECTION
2 Peter 1:2-3 “Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.”
“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.”
What are a few examples of ways Christians are called to a godly life?
MEDITATION:
I believe God called me to be my parents’ caregiver. So why was I so surprised I was able to do the unpleasant aspects of care giving ? Such as changing my mother’s diaper and assisting my stepfather in the bathroom? God knew me better than I knew myself. He had already equipped me before He called me to do His will.
When you feel care giving is smothering you, reach for God’s hand. Find a quiet space and just sit in God’s presence. Begin with a simple prayer; “it’s me again, God; just checkin’ in with you cuz I sure do feel over whelmed today.” Just sit quietly for a time.
Share your frustrations with your Heavenly Father and listen. Breathe deeply. On the exhale, let go of what is troubling you, give it to Him.
And on the inhale, breathe in His love. Continue this until you feel wrapped in God’s love. When your shoulders sag, a sign you are relaxing.
Lean on Him–continue until a sense of peace fills your being. Remember, God is faithful. He will not give you more than you can handle. Accept the abundant grace and peace you are being given.
YOUR CAREGIVER JOURNAL:
Do you believe God is still calling you to be a home caregiver? Why or why not?
TODAY’S Private Caregiver Prayer:
All Powerful and Wise Father, please help me to understand the ways you are calling me to live a godly life. Thank you for sharing your power, wisdom, and guidance as I serve You. Amen
