Keeping Your Eyes on The Lord
Faith in caregiving for many is the key to surviving the caregiving journey. we have a series of faith in caregiving prayers, mediations and ideas for journaling
Psalm 16:8-9
“I keep my eyes always on the Lord.
With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
My body also will rest secure,…“
…. How will all of the Lord’s blessings be a benefit to me on a difficult day?
MEDITATION
How fragile are the days of a caregiver! In the blink of an eye, or a ring of the phone, the mood of the day can turn from warm and sunny to cold and gray. When a doctor refuses to call back… when a nasty cold grips us… when an assistant can’t come in, or when our loved ones’ illness becomes scary… we feel sad, angry, lost, and alone.
One way I kept my eyes on the Lord was by praying deep silent prayers that poured from my inner being. When difficult decisions faced me, I would cry out for God’s wisdom and guidance. In the morning, before I went over to my parents’ side of our house… I often prayed the day would go well and I’d have a positive attitude about all the work I had to do. By staying in tune with my Lord, I was reminded He was providing me … with the physical and mental support of my dear husband and our paid caregiver. I also remembered He was teaching me about sacrificial love. The kind of love our Lord Jesus showed the world by His death on the cross so our sins may be forgiven.
Keeping our eyes on the Lord . Concentrating on the many ways He blesses us… we can feel his spirit walking beside us. Preparing the way ahead. And coming behind to reassure us in every circumstance that comes our way.
Our prayers will always be answered in a way that is best for us, and His eternal love will embrace and protect us.

More on Faith in Caregiving
When faith and faithfulness walk together in the mist of life, we can trust that our faith in caregiving will bring us peace.
As caregivers, faith is the ultimate source of comfort and strength. We find refuge and hope in our Lord’s promises. He understands what we are going through, and He is willing to bear all of our burdens with us. By trusting Him and keeping our eyes always on Him, we stay rooted to faith no matter how difficult our tasks may seem. The power of prayer is a great blessing along this journey, as it helps us stay focused on God's goodness even when things look grim. Through faith and prayer, we can go through the motions of caregiving with courage and resilience—knowing that He is with us always.
As faith in caregiving brings many benefits, it is important to remember that faith works best when it is based on trust and obedience. We can only experience the peace of faith when we cling to our faith even in moments of doubt and frustration. Let us all remember that faith has no limits—our prayers will be answered if we stay rooted in faith, believing in His promises for us and trusting Him to provide for our needs. Through faith, may God’s love flow through our lives and bring a blessed hope into the world by guiding us along this journey of caregiving.
May God bless you as you continue on your path of faith! Amen.
